> MerchantDrafts is a WooCommerce-native content and ads workflow system for store operators and agencies.
This is the canonical one-line identity. All feature decisions, copy, and expansion planning must be consistent with it.

- Ad copy: Google Ads, Google Merchant Center, Facebook/Meta, LinkedIn
- Lifestyle image generation (product-context-aware)
- Background removal
- Bulk generation across product catalogues
- Brand DNA and Writing Pattern (store-level context layer)
- Business Context (store/audience briefing)
- BYOK runtime (operator controls their own Gemini API key)
- White label (agency branding of the plugin UI)

In scope — permitted future expansion
These stay within the WooCommerce content surface and use the same Brand DNA + store context already built:
- Category page descriptions
- Collection / bundle landing pages
- Product bundle descriptions
- Store-level SEO content (About, shipping, returns pages)

Explicitly out of scope
Article / blog post generation (DEC-018)
Decision: permanently out of scope unless product has saturated the WooCommerce product content surface and a clear operator demand signal exists.
Rationale:
- Competing market: Jasper, Copy.ai, SurferSEO, and dozens of others with years of head start
- Identity dilution: article generation discards the product-context advantage (Brand DNA, attributes, WooCommerce categories, lifestyle images) that makes MerchantDrafts output good
- The WooCommerce product content market is specific, underserved, and defensible — article generation loses that specificity
Do not revisit this without a strong operator demand signal and a clear differentiation story.
Generic AI writing / prompt wrapper features
MerchantDrafts is not a general-purpose AI writer. Features that are not grounded in WooCommerce store context do not belong in the product.

Before adding a new content type or surface, ask:
- Does it use WooCommerce store context (Brand DNA, product data, catalogue structure)?
- Does it serve the store operator or agency workflow, not a generic writing use case?
- Does it deepen the existing system rather than broaden it into a new market?
If all three are yes → in scope. If any are no → question it seriously before proceeding.
