MerchantDrafts Overview
What MerchantDrafts is and how it works.
What MerchantDrafts Is
MerchantDrafts is an admin-side WooCommerce plugin that generates channel-ready commercial content from product data.
It is not a generic AI writing tool. Its scope is WooCommerce product surfaces and downstream commerce channels — product page copy, ad copy, Google Merchant Center feed content, and lifestyle product images.
Who It Is For
- WooCommerce operators managing a single store — MerchantDrafts works from inside wp-admin on the product and catalogue level
- Agencies managing multiple WooCommerce stores — the upper agency tiers add BYOK (bring your own Gemini key), white label, and multi-store support
What It Generates
MerchantDrafts generates content across ten workspaces:
| Workspace | What It Produces |
|---|---|
| Core Product Content | Title, short description, long description, image alt text, SEO fields |
| Google Ads | Headlines, descriptions, keywords |
| Post copy | |
| Facebook Ad | Ad copy |
| Caption | |
| Pin description | |
| Subject line and body | |
| TikTok | Short-form caption |
| Google Merchant Center | Feed-ready title, description, and attributes |
| Lifestyle Images | AI-generated lifestyle scene images attached to the product gallery |
Key Features
Products Workspace (Coverage Dashboard)
A catalogue-level view of all WooCommerce products with per-field coverage indicators. Supports bulk selection, sequential generation queues, and inline review before apply.
Categories Workspace
Manages WooCommerce category descriptions and MerchantDrafts Category Context summaries. Category Context is used as a prompt layer for core product content.
Manufacturers Workspace
Manages native WooCommerce manufacturer (brand) descriptions. Manufacturer descriptions are an optional prompt layer for core product content.
Business Context (Brand DNA)
A store-level identity layer — voice, positioning, target audience — that sits above all generated content. It is the dominant prompt layer in every generation.
Writing Pattern and Product Emphasis
Store-level style controls (conservative, balanced, expressive) and product-level framing instructions. Both are prompt layers subordinate to Business Context.
Specialist Channel Agents
Seven conversational agents — one per ad channel — accessible via slide-in panels in the product editor. Each agent can iterate, rephrase, and refine copy in context.
Content Engine Setup Assistant
A guided assistant in the Settings area that helps operators configure Business Context, Writing Pattern, and prompt layers correctly on first run.
Support Hub AI Assistant
An in-plugin help assistant that answers questions about MerchantDrafts features, workflows, and troubleshooting without leaving wp-admin.
White Label (Agency White)
Agencies can replace MerchantDrafts branding with their own logo, name, support email, and primary colour. White label applies throughout the plugin interface.
BYOK — Bring Your Own Key (Agency BYOK / Agency White)
BYOK-entitled agency operators can supply their own Gemini API key, bypassing the hosted quota system entirely and running without usage limits.
Runtime Modes
| Mode | Who Uses It | How It Works |
|---|---|---|
| Hosted | Launchpad, Operator, Studio Max | MerchantDrafts routes generation through its hosted backend; usage counted against plan quota |
| BYOK | Agency BYOK, Agency White | Operator supplies a Gemini API key; generation runs directly, no quota counting |
Prompt Stack
Every core product content generation uses this layered prompt structure:
- Prompt Supplement (operator-written prefix, optional)
- Base instructions
- Product data
- Business Context
- Category Context (when available)
- Manufacturer Description (when enabled and non-empty)
- Writing Pattern
- Product Emphasis
Missing layers are skipped silently.
